Active Shooter Training: A Trauma-informed Approach

In a world where the threat of gun violence is a reality, being prepared can make all the difference. Join us in this essential training to gain the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the rare but critical situation of an active shooter, in a trauma-informed and caring learning environment.

Right To Be has adapted the proven methodology–Run, Hide, Fight, to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate an active shooter situation. During this 60-minute training session, we will delve into:

-Understanding the Larger Context: Explore the broader context of mass shootings in the U.S., shedding light on the societal factors that contribute to these incidents.
-Recognizing Warning Signs: Learn to identify the red flags and warning signs associated with a potential active shooter situation.
-Run, Hide, Fight: Discover this proven methodology which provides practical steps for responding to an active shooter situation in the safest way possible, gaining insights for when and how to utilize each strategy.
-Healing and Recovery: Discuss the critical process of healing and recovery after a traumatic event, emphasizing the importance of self-care and support.

Additionally, this training acknowledges the potential emotional impact of such discussions and seeks to provide a safe and supportive environment for participants. We will: Limit the use of written scenarios of violence to only what is necessary to teach the content, talk about law enforcement’s role in an active shooter scenario, and take a collective moment to breathe after every section. We will not: Share any video or audio footage of an active shooter incident or use scare tactics to reinforce the gravity of the situation.

Our mission is to empower you to know what to expect in the event of an active shooter situation and how to respond, while ensuring that the training experience itself is both informative and supportive. Register here to join us for an upcoming training session.
