Right To Be Statement on Killing of O’Shae Sibley

At Right To Be (formerly Hollaback!), we stand in solidarity with the family of O’Shae Sibley, a 28-year-old gay man who was a professional dancer and choreographer and was stabbed to death for voguing and being himself at a gas station in Brooklyn, New York, this weekend.

We are devastated and reject this horrific incident which reminds us once again of the growing hatred against the LGBTQIA+ community. We demand a world where LGBTQIA+ people can live without fear of violence, where we all care for each other and respect our right to be.

Our hearts go out to the LGBTQIA+ community and to everyone who has ever experienced harassment, assault, and hatred just because of who they are.

In solidarity,

Right To Be, formerly Hollaback!
